Vintage Valentine's Day Cards
There have been many ways for people to say "I love you." One of the most
famous and highly regarded days out of the entire year is Valentine's Day.
This day is dedicated to sharing love amongst your loved one and
friends - and even secret admirers.
Vintage Valentine's Day cards can be traced back as far as 1415. The history
of the Valentine's Day card dates all the way back to Charles, Duke of
Orleans, who was imprisoned. Wanting to write to his love and show her all
of his undying devotion to her, he created elegant poems and verses that
showed his profound love for her. This is what grew into the Valentine's Day
cards that we know today. The Valentine's Day cards soon also included
embellishments such as ribbons, flowers, gold leaf presses, and other
beautiful hand made creations. After the Valentines were created, they were
hand delivered to the waiting sweethearts and loved ones. This grew into
what is known today as the common tradition of exchanging and receiving
Valentine Day cards.
Vintage Valentine's Day cards that were mass produced can be traced back as
far as the 1830's in Europe. The creation of the mass produced Valentine's
Day cards created much interest, and also saved time by people not having to
hand make the cards themselves. The Valentine's Day cards were still as
elegant and well versed as though they were hand made. To this very day,
Valentine's Day cards are some of the most popular holiday greeting card exchanged.
Vintage Valentine Day cards are an elegant way for people to announce their
true love for someone. They are not only classy and elegant, but vintage
Valentine's Day cards are also wonderful collectors' items for remembering
Valentine's days gone by.
