Vintage Tootsietoy Die Cast Cars

For many years, die cast cars have played an important role for many collectors. For some, it is the remembrance of yesterday, for others, it is the sheer fun of having an interesting hobby. Either way, one thing is for certain...die cast cars are a hot collectors item.

There are many die cast car companies that collectors can choose from. One of the many companies is the Tootsietoy. Tootsietoy cars indeed have a catchy and popular selling name. Tootsietoy cars have been around for nearly a century. Its founder and inventor, Samuel Dowst created its first car in 1906. Trying to come up with a playful and creative name for his company, he used his daughter's name, Tootsie. The last production of the metal cars from the company was manufactured in 1969. After that year, plastic was added to the cars as well.

The very miniature cars are truly a sight to see. They are usually little metal cars and trucks, all brightly painted. Tootsietoy car collectors would say that most of the value lies in the cars that are made prior to 1969. Some of the mini die cast vehicles that were created during this time were an English convertible race car, a hot rod, as well as a shuttle truck. The cars were manufactured in Chicago, Illinois, and were roughly two inches in length.

Online auctions often prove profitable when searching for a Tootsietoy car to buy or sell. Internet search engines will also bring up many pages of information on Tootisetoy cars that are being sold as well. Due to the conditions and ages that the Tootsietoy cars are in, the prices may vary significantly for the pieces. That will not stop a collector though. Tootsietoy cars have been a great asset to many collections, and will continue to be an asset to many more.
