Vintage Postage Stamps
Postage Stamps have been around for many years. The stamps were introduced
as a means of covering the cost of postage that was being sent from one
place to another. The postage was introduced in the United States by the US
Postal Service. To this day, there is not a piece of mail that can be
delivered without sufficient postage.
Vintage post stamps have long been a popular item to collect. The
decorative stamps can be collected from countries near and far. The stamps
can also have different motifs on them. Different pictures, such as
presidents, have been featured on very old and vintage US postage stamps.
Other featured items on stamps have been flowers, as well as different scenes
and events from all around the United States.
Collectors often look for certain stamps to add to their collection. The
best stamps in any collection would be non-issued stamps that are in full
sheets. This means that the stamps were never used, and are still available
in a set on a full page of stamps. Other cherished stamps are those that
are loose, and may have been affixed to an envelope, but there are no
postage markings through them. The postage marking, which makes the stamps
then null and void for future use, really depreciates the value of a stamp
in a collection. However, for some vintage stamp collectors, it may very
well be the fact that they own a stamp that they have been looking for and
is rare. The stamp, with markings or not, can be such a treasured asset to
the collector.
Stamps can be purchased through many outlets. Online auctions, such
as eBay, often have sellers that sell stamps. There are also many inserts
that appear in national and local newspapers that offer stamp sets at very
affordable rates. So whether the stamps are newer or very old, there are many
beautiful stamps that are waiting to join any vintage stamp collection.
