Call Me - Vintage Telephones
One of the greatest gadgets that billions of people all around the world can
not live without is the telephone. Time has certainly changed the way that
we use the telephone. From a rotary dial, to very thin hand held cell
phones, the evolution of the telephone is one to definitely go down in
history.
In the 1870's inventors Alexander Graham Bell and Elisha Gray had both
created their own versions of a telephone. They had both came up with
a telephone, but Alexander Graham Bell was fortunate enough to get to the
patent office first, and have his model approved. This later led to a legal
battle over who invented the telephone. Luckily for Bell, he ended up
winning the legal battle. It was Alexander Graham Bell's attempt to improve
on the telegraph that lead to his invention of the telephone. It is
astounding that such a young man at the age of 29 could invent a device that
would forever impact people around the world. Alexander Graham Bell is the
one who did.
Since Bell's original invention of the telephone, it has "matured" quite a bit. The main idea of transmitting instant and live messages is still in
effect. Vintage telephones such as rotary phones and wall phones are not
only great conversation pieces, but great nostalgic pieces as well.
Telephones come in many different styles, colors, and forms, making them an
important part of any vintage collection. Older telephones bring in much
more money when they are sold, simply because of the high interest and
demand for them. Such phones can be found through antique dealers, telephone
warehouses, and on rare occasion, thrift stores. For as long as people need
to communicate, there will be the telephone, whether it be vintage or
new.
