Vintage Military Propaganda Posters - "We Want You!"
Military propaganda has been around since the creation of the military.
Propaganda for the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines has been the main tool
for recruiting people into the military. Such popular and effective tools
for military propaganda has proven effective for the US military when it
comes to recruitment.
During the height of World War I and II, Americans were faced with many
troubled and challenging times. The United States banned together, though,
and pulled through the World Wars. There were many military propaganda
posters that were displayed, in hopes of recruiting new people into the
military. Men and women both played important roles during these times. Men
young and old were joining the military in order to help support the war
efforts. Some women worked in factories to help build weapons and make bullets
that were needed. Other women were seamstresses, creating clothing for the
soldiers. No matter what the efforts and jobs were at the time, they all
seemed to be concentrated around the fact that the United States was uniting
as a whole during such hard times.
Vintage military propaganda posters are now seen as an important piece of
military and United States history. The vintage posters often depict
such images as "Rosie, the Riveter" or Uncle Sam, with the infamous
picture of of him pointing a finger, saying "I want YOU to join the
military!" Such catchy propaganda posters have been long gone from store
fronts and street poles. They are now hanging in the homes of those who
remember these hard times in the United States. Mint condition military
propaganda posters are difficult to find, as many of them were exposed to
the natural elements (weather.) No matter what the reason for the
collector to seek a military propaganda poster, one thing is for certain;
the pride and unity of America will forever be prevalent with military
propaganda posters.
