Vintage Matchbook Covers

Different and creative ways for companies to advertise their products has been a challenge for many companies. Other than ad campaigns that are seen in magazines, companies try to find new and innovative ways to advertise. One of the many forms of advertisement that has proven successful in the past are matchbook covers.

Many companies have used matchbook covers as a means of advertising. The matchbook cover advertisement reached many people. Many matchbooks were available in restaurants and diners. The now popular restaurants and diners carried their logos on the matchbook covers. Other matchbook covers that are popular are the ones that carried beer logos. Companies such as Budweiser used the matchbook covers as another form of advertisement besides their popular magazine and television ads.

Other companies and ideas were advertised on matchbook covers as well. Covers also carried sports such as golf. These covers are very vintage, and usually hail from the 1930s and 40s. The covers, although simplistic looking enough, actually bring in a lot of money. They can be seen at a selling rate of $20.00! Of course, the better the condition the matches are in, the higher the matchbook will sell for.

Matchbook advertising is still around today. Many restaurants, hotels, and other places, seek matchbook covers for their advertising. Many collectors enjoy collecting matchbooks for their covers, as they often depict many places that the collector has been. Collectors often house the matchbook covers in safe, dry places, so they do not ruin the matches and covers. Vintage matchbook cover collecting are one of the most popular hobbies that a collector can have...and one of the most affordable as well. Many people have collected the matchbook covers over the years, so in fact, their collection has been entirely free. Nothing beats a collection of adored items that was no cost to the collector!
