Lucky Strike Cigarettes
"Luckies taste better than any other cigarette" has long been the classic
slogan for Lucky Cigarettes. Cigarettes have played an important role in
American history. Tobacco has been a large selling and trade product in the
United States, dating back 400 plus years.
Lucky Strike cigarettes were created by the R.J. Reynolds Company. Lucky
Brand cigarettes are indeed vintage, as they were originally created and
sold in 1871 to the American population. Many people appreciated the pure
taste of the tobacco cigarette, as there was not a filter attached to the
cigarette. Others, however, had to use a cigarette extender to smoke the
cigarettes. The cigarette extender was attached to the butt of the cigarette
and the smoker could then inhale thru the cigarette extender versus the
cigarette itself. Lucky Strike cigarettes has had a lucrative advertising
history as well. Many of the vintage Lucky Strike cigarette campaigns have
had silver screen stars, as well as historical monuments, such as the
Yankee Stadium. Many people appreciated that their favorite teams and
celebrities were used in conjunction with their favorite cigarette. The fact
that the Reynolds company took on such lucrative ideas for the advertising
of Lucky Strike cigarettes did not help to keep the cigarette alive. Today,
the Lucky Strike cigarettes are still sold, but are considered as a "non
support brand" under the R.J. Reynolds company. This means that the
company will no longer provide marketing and advertising, but it will
maintain the Lucky Strike cigarette sales where the selling market is
prevalent.
Since the Reynolds company ceased the advertisement of the Lucky Strike
cigarettes, any advertising campaigns are now seen as collectible and
vintage. Many tobacciana collectors yearn to own a piece of Lucky Strike
advertising, whether it be a vintage tin sign, or from an insert in a
magazine. Many Lucky Strike enthusiasts are eager to own any piece of Lucky
Strike history, as it is truly a cigarette that will forever be in American
tobacco history.
