Creating Memories with Lincoln Logs
In 1924, architect John Lloyd Wright, son of Frank Wright, introduced
Lincoln Logs to the American Public. His idea for the toy came from a hotel
in Tokyo. This hotel seemed to withstand the test of time with earthquakes.
Sparking his creative side, John set off to manufacturer the Lincoln Logs.
John Wright created the name "Lincoln Logs" after Abraham Lincoln's log
cabin. His creative name went over well, as many Americans purchased the
new found toy.
With its interlocking mechanisms, the Lincoln Logs seemed to have ignited
interest in many post World War II parents. They appreciated the creativity
that was installed into their children versus regular building blocks.
Children were improving on both their eye and hand coordination. The Lincoln
Log sets usually consist of blocks, flat boards, wood eves, plastic eves,
and a fort sign. Children can create various designs with their Lincoln Log
sets. The most common design from the Lincoln Log sets is the large fort or
home.
Since it's creation at the turn of the twentieth century, collectors have
sought after Lincoln Log sets for its collectors value. Although it is
difficult for people to find original Lincoln Log sets in mint condition, it
is not totally obsolete. Original sets in this state may be can fetch
upwards of a thousand dollars or more. Online sites, antique stores, as
well as antique swap meets are ideal places to locate Lincoln Logs. There

well.
Lincoln Log sets have been delighting children for almost 100 years. As
