Vintage Jim Beam Decanters
Since the start of the Jim Beam company in 1795, the world has collected
the Jim Beam decanter. The company has not only prided themselves on their
whiskey, but in the decorative collectible decanters as well. In fact, some
may argue that it is the decanter that sells the product.
The now-collectible decanter bottles originated in 1952. The decanter
bottles truly made a statement on the market, as the Jim Beam bottles stuck
out from the rest. The very first specialty item created was a glass
cocktail shaker. This shaker was created right before Christmas, in
hopes that the mass public would purchase them and give them as collectible
gifts. the Jim Beam company struck gold with this idea in 1952, and it
seemed as though a collecting sensation had grown overnight. The very first
decanters created were called the Fish Regal Chin and the Duck. These two
decanter bottles, along with the glass cocktail shaker, seemed to have spear
headed a collecting sensation.
Over the years, other creative, and quite beautiful decanters were also
created. Decanters honoring states and events, such as major sports event,
led to the creation of even more decanters. The demand for ceramic decanters
grew on the mass market at this time, and in turn, many companies asked Jim
Beam to create decanters for their organizations as well. The Jim Beam
company calls these bottles "customer specialties." For the company's
160th anniversary, Jim Beam created a commemorative decanter. After the
creation of the anniversary decanter, a yearly Christmas decanter was
created. These decanters of whiskey were much more expensive, as the
decanters were very ornate in design, and filled with the very finest of Jim
Beam whiskey. To this day, Jim Beam holiday decanter sets can be purchased,
and the tradition of collecting the decanters can be kept alive. Jim Beam
has been around for over 200 years, and it is guaranteed to be around for so
many more years to come. With the help of a decorative decanter to sell the
smooth whiskey, Jim Beam will forever be a liquor legend.
