Dry and Go with Vintage Hair Dryers

For thousands of years, it seems as though women have had a profound impact on the care of their hair. The way that a woman keeps her hair has been known as a sign of the woman's personality. With the help of a hair dryer, styling hair can be so much easier.

Many years ago, women would go to the salon for a quick wash and cut. However, there were no hair dryers around to dry the women's hair. It was not unusual to see a woman sitting in a salon with her hair hanging out of the window. The wind from outside was what was used to dry the ladies hair. As time progressed, some of the first hair dryers came out. Being as these were very heavy and expensive, many people could not afford to have one in their homes. Even salons shied away from hair dryers, as they were seen as cumbersome and expensive.

Other methods of drying hair were used prior to the invention of the modern hair dryer. Often times, bonnets were placed on the woman's head, and there was an attachment for a vacuum hose. On one end, the hose was attached to the bonnet, while on the other, attached to the vacuum. The vacuum would then be turned on, creating the outgoing air onto the hair, causing it to dry. In today's times, such a vintage hair dryer seems almost silly. In those days, it was what worked.

The evolution of the hair dryer is simply amazing. From the gas powered hair dryers in the Thirties, to the pink plastic bonnet that that was connected to the hair dryer in the Fifties, hair dryers have come such a long way. Nowadays, hair dryers are much more simplistic, and there are such features as a cooling element that prevents split ends while drying hair. Hair dryers seem to have come such a long way in a short amount of time, and yet there are only better things to come.
