Popping up Fun with the Fisher Price Corn Popper

While most Americans were still feeling the impact of the Great Depression, three inventors came up with the idea of selling children's toys. These wooden toys, 16 in all, were first shown to the public at the International Toy Fair in New York City. The three inventors, Herman Fisher, Irving Price, and Helen Schelle, knew that they had hit a positive note when all their colorful children's toys became a quick hit.

Many people enjoy these toys for their children. The colorful toys, which are enjoyed mostly by preschoolers, are a great way for children to recognize their colors, shapes, order, size, and more. Fisher Price manufacturers aimed towards infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. One of the most enjoyed Fisher Price toy is what is known as the "Corn Popper".

The corn popper is a wonderful tool for children that are learning to walk. The corn popper, which consists of a white long handle, and a semi sphere housing various size and color plastic balls which "pop" when pushed. The popping action comes from a little plate that moves up and down in the popper, which is motioned by the child's movement with the corn popper. The faster the child moves with the corn popper, the faster the balls will "pop", or bounce around in the plastic sphere. Many children like to watch the balls pop around, as well as the popping sound that it creates. Not only do the children enjoy playing with the corn popper, but they are also developing excellent hand/eye coordination, too.

The corn popper is one of the vintage toys that Fisher Price still manufactures to this day. The corn popper can be found in major chain stores, as well as toy stores. Older models are often readily available, and can be found on online auctions such as eBay. It should be noted that since the corn popper is still manufactured, that vintage versions of the corn popper should not be too much more in price than a brand new one. The corn popper is a fantastic toy for children to play with. Made durable and made to last, the corn popper is sure to bring joy to children of present and future as it did to children of the past.
