Disney Film Cells
For over 50 years now, Disney has created many animated and realistic movie
masterpieces. Movies such as "Dumbo", " Bambi", " Sleeping Beauty", and "
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" are just a few of the many Disney movies
that have become an embedded part of history. Many Disney collectors and
lovers have a vast collection of these Disney favorites. One of the ever
growing and just as popular items of Disneyana to collect are the film
cells.
Disney film cells can be pricey, but are often easy to find for the newer
movies. Older movies, such as "Peter Pan", may be hard to come by. What is
a film cell exactly? Well, a film cell is just that; it is a cell, or a
very small fraction of the film. All animated movies are created from
individual "cells". Each "cell" or portion of the movie must be animated.
If an animated character were to gesture or a piece of the background were
to move, there are many cells that must be created to create such a motion.
Without creating multiple film cells for the gesturing, the movements would
be not be seen as fluid, and would seem to be sporadic, and "skip".
Therefore, an entire animated movie may consist of hundred of thousands of
these film "cells" or snippets.
Many Disney stores, as well as on line websites sell these film cells. As
stated above, the most recent are the easiest to come by, but these, too are
often expensive, depending on the popularity of the movie. The classic
Disney movie cells are what many collectors seek, as those are very rare,
and are most definitely in limited supply. No matter what the cost is for
Disney film cells, Disneyana collectors are willing to pay top dollar for
their favorite piece of movie memorabilia history.
