Disney Porcelain Figurines
For nearly one hundred years, Disney has been well loved
in many people's lives and homes. Disney enthusiasts find that there
is a large array of Disney items that can be collected. Although there are
many different Disneyana items to collect, one of the very popular items are
Disney porcelain figurines.
Disney and its famous characters hit the homes of the American public in the
early 1900's. The characters seemed to have created an overnight sensation.
Since it's creation, there have been many collectible items created,
including porcelain figurines. The porcelain figurines all vary in size,
and characters, from very small figurine of Mickey Mouse, to larger
figurines of Goofy. The wonderful thing about porcelain figurines is that
they are almost always all hand painted. Given the skills, talent and
intricate works of the painters, the cost of the figurines can vary
significantly. Older figurines can be seen at a selling rate of well over a
hundred dollars. This all rests entirely on the condition that the porcelain
figurine is in. If there are visible paint chips, fading of the paint, as
well as cracks and chips in the porcelain figurine itself, the value of the
figurine can be decreased significantly. This can be of upset to those that
collect the Disney figurines, as finding a vintage figurine in mint
condition can seem impossible.
There are many Disney appraisers that have a vast knowledge of these
figurines. These appraisers often have multiple books from years past, as
well as a keen eye for distinguishing between authentic and replicas of the
porcelain figurines. Many people may believe that they have an authentic
Disney figurine, when, in fact, they were sold a figurine that is a mere few
years old. Either way, one thing is for certain; whether vintage or new,
Disney porcelain figurines will forever be a piece of Disneyana memorabilia.
