Disney Coin Banks
Over the years, Disney has created many magical pieces of memorabilia.
Among the pieces of Disneyana that collectors seek are the Disney coin
banks. These banks are truly collectible, and make a great addition to any
collectors set.
Many of the Disney banks are close to 80 years old. These banks are highly
valuable, and are often sold at a high selling price. The condition that
the coin banks are in play a major factor for the price of these collectible
banks. Since the banks were painted, many of the older banks have seen a
lot of paint chipping and flaking. Those banks that have managed to stay in
near- mint condition for all of these years are a truly rare find, and are
highly regarded in the Disneyana collecting field.
The vintage Disney banks are often created in the figure of Donald Duck and
Mickey Mouse, two of the most popular Disney characters. The Donald Duck
and Mickey Mouse coin banks are created from plastic, and have a slot in the
front of the bank where the money can be deposited. They stand about 9 3/4
inches high, with a 4 inch diameter base.
The neat twist to the banks, is that many of these banks once held "Puppets
Caramel Flavored Wheat Puffs", or so it is believed, as they have metal
stoppers on the bottom, that don this label.
Many of these rare Vintage Walt Disney coin banks can be located at antique
stores, and thru antique dealers. On rare occasion, these banks can be
found at flea markets, and garage sales, at rock bottom prices. Many people
simply do not know what a valuable piece of American pop icon history that
they have. Swap meets can also prove valuable for such a valuable find.
Disney coin banks are indeed a great find for any collector, young and old.
