Cuban Cigars

The history of the Cuban cigar is indeed an interesting one. Dating back to the late 1400's, Cuba has seen an influx of tobacco. In those times, palm leaves were used to secure the tobacco. The tobacco was rolled up tightly into the palm leaf, and then smoked. Over the hundreds of years since its introduction into the New World from Christopher Columbus, cigars have become an ever popular commodity in Cuba.

Since the reign of Fidel Castro in Cuba in the 1950s on, the United States has enacted an embargo act against Cuba. This is due to the extreme Communism acts of Fidel Castro that the United States is not fond of. Although Fidel Castro does not represent the Cubans as a whole, it is still a violation of the United States law to possess any tobacco, such as a Cuban cigar, from Cuba. The Unites States also does not offer any outgoing flights to Cuba for the same reason. Individuals that wish to purchase Cuban cigars can do so, but possessing it in the United States is illegal.

Individuals that are fortunate enough to have traveled outside of the country and consume a Cuban cigar all say that it is the finest cigar that they have ever had. Many people vow that Havana, Cuba is the tobacco capital of the world. This is also because Cuba is very liberal on the way that their tobacco is grown. Cuba does not have the same strict rules and regulations that the United States has for the growth and consumption of tobacco. In turn, it is believed that the tobacco grown in Cuba is of a much richer and stronger taste. Tobacco collectors would all love to have consumed or at least own one Cuban cigar in their collection. Due to its legality in the United States, though, it may never become a reality for many cigar enthusiasts.
