Cigarette Signs
Advertising has played an important role for many companies. Just as many
venues there are for advertising, there are even more so for means of
advertising. Cigarette companies would not have as many people buying their
cigarettes if it were not for advertising. One of the ever popular forms of
advertising are tin cigarette signs.
Vintage cigarette signs can make a special addition to a humidor shop or
even in someone's tin collection. The old tin signs were mass produced many
years ago, and are loved for the catchy pictures that are on them. One sign
that comes to mind are the old Camel signs. The Camel cigarette company once
thrived off of Joe Camel memorabilia. The Joe Camel cartoon was soon
removed from Camel products as many people believed that the cartoon was
enticing younger people to start smoking. These tin signs that depict the
Joe Camel cartoon are no longer being produced, and are therefore highly
valuable and collectible.
Another popular cigarette tin sign are the Marlboro signs. These signs
often depict a man riding off into the sunset on a horse. The cowboy and his
horse are still being used to his day. For Marlboro, that has been the
selling ticket for the company. The cowboy image is what has remained
supreme on the tin signs that appear in liquor stores, as well as antique
stores.
Many individuals enjoy collecting the tin signs of yesteryear. The signs can
bring back many fond memories of ones youth. The cigarette tin sign
collector may keep the signs hung up in a game room, or may even decorate
their favorite tins all throughout their house. The possibilities of
displaying the tin signs seem to be endless...just as endless as the
availability of vintage tin signs waiting to be purchased.
