Cigar Humidors

For hundreds of years, people have been smoking tobacco, either for medicinal purposes, or for sheer pleasure. It would not be uncommon for anyone to see a humidor in a tobacco enthusiast's home or office. Humidors play an important role in cigar lover's lives.

Tobacco aficionados as well as consumers can all agree that humidors are a wonderful asset to have. A humidor can be best described as a house of compartments that vary in size. The size of the compartment, ranging from a small travel box to a large room, all depends on how much tobacco and cigar products an individual is trying to keep safe. The humidor's main goal is to retain a constant humidity level of approximately 70%, as this is what is best for keeping cigars and other tobacco products safe. The reason being is that it is said and believed that tobacco tastes and burns at its very best when it is kept slightly moist. Tobacco enthusiasts can differentiate between "fresh" and "stale" tobacco. Keeping the tobacco product, such as a cigar, moist is beneficial in a few different ways.

For starters, when one maintains moisture in a cigar, it helps to reserve the taste of the tobacco. Keeping the cigar in a humidor keeps the tobacco at it's rich, and full flavored taste. A "stale" cigar can taste harsh, making the smoking experiment very unpleasant. Secondly, a humidor-kept cigar will remain moist enough for an even burn of the tobacco in the cigar. This also makes for a longer - lasting smoking experiment. Lastly, a humidor - kept cigar will preserve the life of the cigar, making it last so much longer than a cigar that is kept in a warm, dry place.

Humidors have been around for almost 100 years. For tobacco enthusiasts, they are a fine intervention in the prolonging of tobacco. Vintage humidors are just as elegant as the newer humidors on the market, however they are more expensive. No matter the price though, tobacco enthusiasts will pay any amount for their beloved humidors.
