Sweet Times with Candy Land

Some people may say that part of the fun of being a child is all of the candy that you can eat. Other people may mention that it is in your childhood years that you learn about eating habits, whether they are good or bad. One of the safest ways to get a sweet "treat" that many kids love is by playing Candy Land.

This vintage game was created during the 1940's, by a woman named Eleanor Abbott. Eleanor was ill from polio, and was at home for quite some time trying to recoup. During her recovery time, she decided to create a board game for children that may be suffering from the disease. It was to Eleanor Abbott's great surprise that her Candy Land board game was a hit with the children. It was not long after her creation of the game that she decided to go to the Milton Bradley Company. The Candy Land game was immediately purchased by the Milton Bradley Company, and has become the best selling preschool game ever recorded.

Children love the vintage Candy Land game, for all of the "taste tempting" pictures that are shown. Parents appreciate the game, as it can be played by the entire family. With the gingerbread man pieces, and the colored dots that line the game board, it makes for a very easy game that even three year olds can play. One doctor has even mentioned that the game can teach basic skills, such as taking turns, patience, color recognition, sharing, as well as building confidence within the child. The benefits of this top selling game are just as equal as the fun times that can be had by anyone who plays it. Candy Land has been around for over 55 years, and will continue to be just as "sweet" of a game 55 years from now.
