Military Binoculars
Telescopes and binoculars have long been methods that people have used to
look at objects in vary far distances. Astronomers yearned to see the stars,
and therefore created the telescope to see stars and planes. A smaller
version of the telescope is the binocular.
Binoculars have been around for hundreds of years. Inventors that created
the binoculars did so without knowing that military soldiers would be using
binoculars in the future. Binoculars were created as a means of seeing
objects that are far away. The idea is the same as a telescope...it is to
"scope" in on objects, or in this case, an enemy, that may be far away.
Lookout soldiers and other soldiers n the battlefields used their
binoculars as a means of seeing where the enemy was. If the troops were
moving camp, they needed to be able to spot danger before they moved any
further. The whole purpose of the binoculars for the soldiers was so that
the soldiers could see their enemies long before their enemies could see
them. It should be noted that it was not just the soldiers out on the fields
that used binoculars. Binoculars were also used on battle ships, and
periscopes in submarines were and still are used for combat and protective
duties. Binoculars were indeed a very valuable piece of military equipment.
They were not only helpful, but they saved many American soldiers from being
attacked by the enemy.
Vintage military binoculars are often seen on sale. Collectors and military
enthusiasts alike enjoy purchasing binoculars. The binoculars are usually in
surprisingly good condition, as the soldiers that used them too very good
care of them. Often times, the collectors like to use the vintage military
binoculars for their own personal use. However, in order to keep the
binoculars in the best collectible condition as possible, it is best to keep
them in their protective cases. Binoculars have been, and will be, a
valuable asset for American soldiers...young and old.
