Vintage Beer Bottles
For hundreds of years, beer and other liquors have played an important role
in history. Alcohol consumption was even illegal during the National
Prohibition in the 1920's. One thing has remained the same during all of
this time; beer has sustained its selling power for all of these years.
One of the reasons why breweriana collectors collect beer is for the bottles
and cans that they come in. Beer companies thrive to create an attractive
and eye-catching design and label for their beer. It seems as though many
companies' advertising techniques have paid off, as many collectors seek the
cans solely based on design. Some designs are very well known, and can be
recognized even without the name of the beer. Such a company would be
Budweiser. A picture of an eagle against an American flag, or even a group
of Clydesdale horses pulling a sleigh would be a definite trademark for the
company. Beer companies that have been established for quite some time may
have once packaged their beers in old tin quart size cone tops. These tins,
depending on the condition and rarity, can be found at an astonishing
selling rate of hundreds of dollars. Collectors that own quart cone top beer
bottles would agree that it is the age of the bottle that truly sells the
product.
Even older beer bottles are old stone quarts. Settlers used the glazed jugs
to keep their liquor fresh. Often times, a cork would be used as a stopper
to keep the liquor from spilling out. Very old liquor jugs are just as
valuable as the old beer quart cone tops, if not even more so. Many
families pass down their vintage beer bottle collections from one generation
to another, in order to keep the valuable, and often times historical, collection
in the family. Vintage beer bottles are sure to bring
years of memorable enjoyment to the owner.
